My Walk in the Rain

Some days I feel like I am glued to computer chair. While it would be nice to spend most of my time creating, the truth is, I have had so much to do on the computer I have not gotten to create much at all. Maintaining my Etsy shop, and my web site, my other Etsy shop and managing the Etsy Mosaic Art Street Team and blogs for each, is time consuming, as many of you know. I have also recently begun to work as a editor for an up coming E~zine that is published by my wonderful web site host & provider DIY Website Builder. I am writing about my thrift stores find in each issue and the artwork I create from my $1 finds.

Yesterday my daily stroll to the mailbox with my umbrella turned in to a 20 minute walk. There was something very calming and relaxing about being outside in the rain. I grabbed my camera and wandered around. It was a much needed break from sitting, and some much needed fresh air to help me regain focus and go back to finish up my work for the day.

I Made the Front Window at the Gallery!

On Friday, I went to Torrington, CT to Artwell, the gallery that is hosting the juried show I entered and was accepted to. I was scheduled to work my volunteer shift, as all members do. Since I missed the opening of the show the last weekend in July, I had not yet gotten a chance to see it. To my surprise, as I pulled up in front to park, my mirror was right in the front window and was the first thing you saw when stepped up to the gallery.

The show has some amazing work. It is so exciting to be part of it. While I didn't win any awards for my piece, I am feeling pretty good about the prime spot that my mirror resides.

My Latest ETSY Finds

In search of some new vintage finds and embellishment for my altered art pieces, I sat down at my computer last Tuesday night on a mission. Shopping on Etsy is one of my favorite things to do, especially shopping for unique supplies that have been discovered by fellow artists and creative minds. The metal flowers pictured above came up in my search for embellishments. They were listed by sleepingdogstudio, and perfect for my retro style altered art. I had to have them! They arrived quickly and were even more pretty than the picture. Thank you sleepingdogstudio. :o)

Of course I already used a few of the flowers in some pieces. Here is a mirror I listed today that has one of the great lime green flowers at the bottom center.

I have been at my work table creating some new altered art pieces. Sometimes I just need a break from the mosaics. I also listed a new set of magnets. They feature fabulous images I purchased last week from piddix. Much of the new altered art pieces I have been making incorporate images from her shop. The image quality is fantastic and they have been a joy to work with.
